American Sign Language Alphabet:
ASI

About:

American Sign Language (ASI) is the sign language for the USA. As well as the USA, ASI is used in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Chad, Gabon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Mauritania, Kenya, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe. Each cultural area supports the syntax and grammar of the sign language, thus making different syntax and grammar interpretations depending on the country and environment.The American Sign Language alphabet(ASL) is written in English words. ASI is a visual language.Sign language has been around since the 17th century. The first recorded traces of it was found in Italy during this time, then latter the French got hold of it in the 18th century. The French thus founded there sign language, which today we recognize as (OFSL) ‘Old French Sign Language’.Finger spelling:
Finger spelling, also known as dactylology and hand alphabets represents letters and sometimes numerals of the writing system. The finger spelling technique has been adapted by deaf education and has been added to a number of sign language symbols. Finger spelling ranges from tracing letter forms in the air and tracing latter forms on the palm, to unique hand signs representing letters.Baby Sign Language:

Recent tests and developments have shown that teaching babies sign language in there developmental stages, has a positive effect on them. By teaching your babies sign language, they pic it up fast, before they even have the capability of oral speaking, and this helps them to interact with parents at an earlier stage.

Calligraphy and Sign Language:

Adding sign language symbols to your calligraphy work could be just what you need to add a unique touch to your designs. Just an idea I came across why not mix calligraphy with sign language symbols and or pictography and so on. You could add it as an image or spell your word out in sign language then in calligraphy. Have a look bellow and see how I tested the technique on Photoshop;

I could add this as a border across my page or image on top or behind the calligraphy.
