About Bulgarian Language
Bulgarian is Indo-European (Slavic) language. Estimates of up to 9+ million people around the world speak Bulgarian. It was the first "Slavic" language attested in writing and It was also referred to, in the oldest manuscript, as "the Slavic language" which was later changed to the "Bulgarian language". During the 12- 15th century (middle Bulgarian times), the language went through major developments thus loosing the Slavonic case system.
Development of Alphabet
Early Alphabet:
In 886AD, Bulgaria was introduced to the Glagolitic alphabet
Later Develop:
The Cyrillic alphabet replaced the Glagolitic alphabet gradually a few centuries later. Majority of the Cyrillic letters were developed by many alphabets, some being the Greek and Glagolitic alphabet letters.
In today’s modern times, the Bulgarian alphabet is written in the Cyrillic script, and occasionally in Latin.
