Calligraphy Pen: The Fountain Pen
The Calligraphy Pen? Learn about the calligraphy fountain pen here. Some good calligraphers pens include the rotring pen and parket fountain pens...
Fountain pens are commonly used in calligraphy by calligraphy beginners. One reason why this is so, is because fountain pens have large capacity reservoirs, unlike traditional calligraphy pens which have to be dipped into ink to keep filling the small reservoir. So fountain pens allows calligraphy beginners to write/practice calligraphy without having to keep filling the pen every few seconds or so.
Fountain pens, like other calligraphy pens, come in a range of nib sizes. From small to big. Each pen normally come with there own special nibs. Also calligraphers traditional pen nibs cant be used on a fountain pen, or vice versa, as they are not made for each other.
Fountain pens with squeeze or pistol filled reservoirs are preferred over cartridge filled reservoirs.
Regularly clean your pens when finished with it to prevent clogging, rusting and distorted ink flow of the pen. Also do not use acrylic on your pen as this will clog the pen up. If you leave ink un-cleaned in your pen for some days or weeks then the pen becomes rusty and clogs. This has happened to me before, and its not a pretty sight. If this happens then there’s nothing you can do but buy a new pen. So remember to clean your pen. The best thing to use to really clean the pen is a toothbrush. It can be a cheap small tooth brush, nothing expensive. This gets right into the pens nib and cleans it good. Use water with the toothbrush and your pen will get clean.
