Free PC fonts?
A font is a particular typeface with a distinctive style and size within a type family. Font = style and size of typeface. Fonts are known as pc base. You do not define your writing style as a particular font do you? No that’s not normally how it works. You could though if you were a calligrapher, learn a specific font you love and always write in it. "Today I will write in Helvetica, tomorrow comic sans”.

Free fonts are available all over the internet to use on your pc. There are thousands and thousands of fonts out there, so which ones do you choose for a calligraphic based style? Well here are the names of the top calligraphy based fonts out there and why they are so good. I will list if they are free or not.

Recommended fonts out there:

  • 'Lucida' is designed by Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes and is an extended type face family, including Blackletter, Calligraphy and Handwriting scripts. Majority of the scripts come in sans-serif while a couple (Fax and Bright), come in serif. Lucida Blackletter, Lucida Handwriting and Lucida Calligraphy is good for calligraphy. Lucida is not part of the Free pc fonts. We do have different Lucida alphabet pintables on this site for free use.

  • 'Gessele' a free calligraphic font by David Rakowski. This is a free font.

  • 'Dragonfly 'a a calligraphic font by Rick W. Mueller. It is a handwriting script and gives a slight oriental look.

  • 'Alison Regular' This is a Regular script font and is one of my favourite free fonts to use.

  • 'CygnetRound ' Cygnet Round Font is a very elegant looking font. It is a free font and a must have! This is a simply beautiful font type.

  • 'Cancellaresca Script' At $29, this font is very elegant also and is a must have if you can afford it. Another beautiful calligraphic font.

  • 'Fine Hand' $29, another handwriting font, designed by Richard Bradley. He is a well known calligrapher in Britain.

  • 'ITC Grimshaw Hand'. This handwriting based font has a distinctive texture to the stroke and gives a personal handwriting touch to users work. Cost for font = $29.

  • 'Mistral' A free handwriting script font. The letters in this piece are joined up and the scripts is loose running. The designer of this font is Roger Excoffon.

  • 'Vivaldi' A calligraphic looking font designed by Friedrich Peter. It is an elegant and formal typeface with elements of the copperplate style.

  • 'Ophelia Italic' Designed by a Philip Bouwsma. Cost $39 for the.

  • 'Esta serif' The designer Dino dos Santos $19.

  • 'Bodoni Classic Deco' This is a font that Giambattista Bodoni designed and tried to break all the rules. It is a nice font with decorative capital letters. A part of the Free pc fonts! you can get this also free online.

  • 'Pendulum' This is a calligraphy designed by Rebecca Alaccari, this is one of the most popular
